parts for the whole

Hello.

I started this blog a few years ago, but I really did not have anything to talk about at that point in time, so I made a few meglomanical posts and abandonded the whole thing.

A few years later, and I can't truthfully say I have anything else of any importance to write about, but some things have changed and I figured I'd pick the thing back up, dust it off, and walk it around the neighborhood a few times.

I guess the main impetus here is to keep the fingers moving on the keyboard. I write occasionally for some local publications, but end of the year budget crunches have all but cut off the supply of writing jobs, so the fingers are getting a bit creaky and the part of my mind that puts words together in a (hopefully) engaging way has been sloughing along at a lazy pace, overfed on cable tv and the arts and entertainment section of the local dalies.

The issue at the forefront of my mind at all times right now is my new daughter, who is 9 weeks old today. My wife and I are extremely proud and happy, but considering that most potential readers here know neither my wife, myself, or our child, I can't think of a good reason to post any new developments in her increasingly interesting existence. But I will report that, as of this morning, her vocabulalary consisted of the following terms:
* "goo" and its variant, "ah-goo"
* "boo"
* "da" and "doo"
* "maaaah"

Fun stuff.

There's an overly wordy post inside of me waiting to come out, one that compares the commander in chief's policies to the fruits of the spirit as outlined in the Biblical book of Galatians, but I'm just not up for it right now.

Thanks for reading.

"Ah-goo"
